BYF: Empowering Future Leaders
The Black Youth Fellowship (BYF) is a professional development program dedicated to empowering young Black leaders and promoting diversity in public service. Launched to foster political literacy and a deeper understanding of the democratic process, BYF recruits motivated individuals to participate in an intensive eight-month program. This includes four months of training and mentorship, followed by a 12-week placement in the office of a Member of City Council.
Placements
Explain the fellowship's placement opportunities, where participants work alongside City Council members or other government officials. Describe the type of work they can expect, such as research, policy development, and community outreach.
Mentorship
Emphasize the mentorship component by explaining how fellows receive one-on-one guidance from professionals. Add a few mentor profiles to showcase the caliber of the mentors and their areas of expertise.
Community Projects
Fellows have the opportunity to engage in community projects that address specific social or educational needs within their neighborhoods. These projects are designed collaboratively, allowing participants to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
