Here’s what our past fellows have had to say about their experiences in the Diversity Youth Fellowship.

The fellowship showed that there are so many ways policies can be developed and implemented especially as racialized folks. I witnessed many racialized folks in leadership capacities which encouraged me to continue pursuing my interests and passions

The mentorship helped me immensely - I still keep in contact with my mentor to this day, as he is a Filipino-Canadian lawyer. Having someone with the same values of me in a position of leadership made me feel more comfortable and able to relate to them. It was one of the best things that resulted out of my fellowship and experience.

My community project aimed to look at “Let’s Talk About Local Governance” was created to better understand civic engagement and participation among Tamil Youth in Toronto. I developed a survey to help highlight existing barriers and work towards the development of policy recommendations and actions needed to better equip Tamil Youth to navigate local government spaces and issues. This provided me with the opportunity to collaborate with the team and community, develop project management skills, and deepen my understanding of issues that Tamil youth face.
